Jyothi Nilaya
The association Jyothi Nilaya, based in Brescia, is a reality that supports and promotes education in the state of Karnataka, South India. In this region, as in many others of the continent, still today, access to education is still very limited and the children of the poorest social castes are the ones that pay most heavily the consequences.
The Indian subcontinent is one of the stars of the new emerging global economy. In this scenario, the opportunities for gaining access to one of the many "new" jobs and provide for themselves and their families the opportunity to leave poverty is possible but at the same time limited to those children who manage to have sufficient school education The children of the poorer castes, unable to receive even a minimal training, are in danger of being cut off. For this reason, the association Jyothi Nilaya strives to allocate financial resources to the community of the Orsoline missionaries in India that are engaged in schooling.
In fact The association takes its name from a community managed in India by the Orsoline Sisters: the "Casa di Luce" (Italian translation of Jyothi Nilaya), located on the outskirts of Mysore, that welcomes hundreds of children from poor villages. Inside the community the missionaries- in addition to the management of the education from nursery school up to tenth class - ensure the development and promotion of the role of women, with an intense social assistance conducted in the villages adjacent to the school, helping women become aware of their rights and teaching them to solve health and family problems.
By promoting the 7milamiglialontano project, the association aims to
- INCREASE AWARENESS of the theme of CHILD EDUCATION in India and the more general problem of child exploitation on the Asian sub-continent.

the sale of a book and DVD created with material collected during the journey
a charity auction where the vehicles and motorbikes used on the journey will be sold
increasing the number of child sponsorships for the Jyothi Nilaya Association
increasing donations for the Jyothi Nilaya Association
