Project

On July 15th, 2009 a team of eight people, including photographers, video makers and journalists, will leave from Mysore in India with two cars and two motorcycles Ambassador Royal Enfield, with the aim to bring motorcycles and cars to Italy and then sell them in an auction and donate the proceeds to the Jyothi Nilaya. The trip will bring them across evocative and controversial counties, from India to Pakistan, from Turkey to Bulgaria, from Serbia to Croatia, through Bosnia and Herzegovina and arrive in Italy at the end of August 2009. During the trip everything will be documented by pictures and videos that will be used to create a book and a DVD for sale to finance projects of Jyothi Nilaya.

“7000 miles away, more than 12,000 kilometers”. This is the distance that separates the children of the old "House of Light" on Masoyore in India by their adoptive parents of Jyhoti Nilaya in Brescia, a distance most often filled by transcontinental flights where the two extremes can meet in an embrace of solidarity and gratitude.

The 7000 miles that are cancelled by the speed of the flights makes us forget that on the ground there are stories, faces, negative stories where the subjects are once again the youngest, pressed by conditions that drive them far away from the school desks and family affection, pressed by poverty, social injustice and war.

7000 miles away was born too give a face and a name to these little ones and tell their stories. A team of photographers, video makers and journalists covering the trip by land, will report the situation of children from Asia to Europe, between school and work, between religion and game, between love and cruelty.

A journey of awareness to bring attention to the problem of child condition in the southern countries of the world and in developing countries, with a specific charitable purpose: to collect money for the association Jyothi Nilaya.

The entire proceeds from the auction of cars and motorcycles used during the trip together with the proceeds of sales of books and Videos will be devolved to the association.

A convoy of volunteers that crosses the world from Catholicism to Hinduism through some of the more orthodox Islam acquires a new dimension and is all the more urgent in light of recent tragic events linked to terrorism and religious fanaticism. In a scenario where madness cowardly hides behind sacred symbolism a gesture of gratitude and sincere participation in the destiny of others is necessary and essential to give children confidence and prospects of hope towards a future that is not only violence.
